Kuala Lumpur, 14 July 2008: Your knowledge on deposit insurance can now help you win RM25,000 and other attractive cash prizes!
This is because Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia (PIDM) is organising a contest to promote awareness among Malaysians on deposit insurance and PIDM’s role as the national deposit insurer.
The contest, known as “PIDM & You Contest”, is open to all Malaysians aged 18 years and above, and will run from today, 14 July to 31 August 2008. Participation is simple as it only requires participants to answer four multiple-choice questions on deposit insurance which will be featured in PIDM’s advertisements in major newspapers from today onwards.
“This is PIDM’s first public contest, which is aimed at enhancing awareness of deposit insurance and the role of PIDM in administering the deposit insurance system in Malaysia. The public should use this opportunity to find out and understand how deposit insurance works for them as they stand a chance to be rewarded for this knowledge,” said S. Loganathan, General Manager, Communications and Public Affairs of PIDM.
This contest is part of PIDM’s efforts to educate Malaysians about deposit insurance. The contest aims to generate interest among Malaysians in deposit insurance and encourage them to find out more about PIDM and its role as the national deposit insurer.
Awareness about deposit insurance is important as it helps to promote confidence in the stability of the financial system and creates knowledgeable financial consumers who can make better informed financial decisions, said Loganathan.
From 14 July 2008, participants can enter the contest through PIDM’s website at www.pidm.gov.my or via short message service (SMS). Contest questions and details can be found on PIDM’s website and advertisements in various newspapers starting 14 July 2008. In addition, contest entry forms will be published in selected newspapers in August 2008.
This contest offers a total of RM50,000 worth of cash prizes, comprising 14 consolation prizes of RM500 cash each, seven weekly prizes of RM2,000 cash each and a grand prize of RM25,000 for the participant with the highest number of qualified entries received throughout the contest period. Four special prizes of RM1,000 cash each are also up for grabs for contest form entries in August.
“To help participants answer the contest questions, they can access PIDM’s website (www.pidm.gov.my) which has a wide range of information on deposit insurance in four languages (English, Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese and Tamil). These include our public information brochures in six languages (Bahasa Malaysia, English, Chinese, Tamil, Iban and Kadazandusun), handbook and information video,” Loganathan added.
Winners will be notified and their names will be published in PIDM’s website by 30 September 2008.
