Rafiz Azuan Abdullah, CEO of Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia (PIDM) and Chair of the International Association of Deposit Insurers’ (IADI) Asia Pacific Research Technical Committee has echoed the call for greater collaboration among regional authorities towards finding resolution approaches that works best for the region following emerging challenges faced by peer deposit insurers in the Asia Pacific region.
He said this recently at a forum on international and regional efforts in enhancing bank resolvability with the theme of ‘Synergising regional and global perspectives in bank resolution’. Key areas of discussion included regional crisis preparedness and cross-border resolution, resolving the failures of small-to-mid sized banks, and new challenges and opportunities accorded by fintech.
The session was part of a virtual roundtable event co-organised by the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Japan and IADI on 24 and 25 February 2022 and brought together senior leaders and experts from resolution authorities and deposit insurers across the world.
