Kuala Lumpur, 19 November 2012: Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia (PIDM) has been awarded the “Best Annual Report of Non-Listed Organisations” by the National Annual Corporate Report Awards (NACRA) for the fourth consecutive year. This award was presented by the Minister of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism YB Dato’ Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob at the NACRA 2012 Awards presentation ceremony held on 1 November 2012 in Kuala Lumpur.
The NACRA awards acknowledge and recognise excellence in corporate reporting, in line with its objective of promoting greater accountability and transparency in financial reporting.
“Winning this prestigious accolade for four consecutive years is a testimony of our continuous commitment to upholding high standards of governance, transparency and disclosure of information to our stakeholders, which is a key requirement for a financial safety net player,” said PIDM Chief Executive Officer J.P. Sabourin.
“As a regulator and public institution, we believe it is important to demonstrate that we subscribe to the highest levels of good corporate governance, in order to build trust and credibility with our key stakeholders,” added Sabourin.
PIDM was also awarded the Best Annual Report of Non-Listed Organisations in 2011, 2010 and 2009 for its Annual Reports.The Corporation was established in September 2005 and its first full year Annual Report 2006 received the NACRA Certificate of Merit in 2007. PIDM was once again awarded this certificate in 2008.
As a performance-driven organisation, PIDM publishes an annual Corporate Plan that sets out the Corporation’s key performance indicators based on its strategic direction and operating environment. The Annual Report thereafter enables its key stakeholders to directly assess PIDM’s performance against these stated deliverables, and in fulfilling the Corporation’s statutory mandate and corporate objectives.
PIDM’s Corporate Plans and Annual Reports, are available on the Corporation’s website (www.pidm.gov.my) in four different languages, Bahasa Malaysia, English, Chinese and Tamil.
