Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia (PIDM) has released its Annual Report 2025, marking two milestones: the completion of its Corporate Plan 2023 – 2025, themed ‘Realising Readiness’, and its 20th year of operations.
The report highlights PIDM’s efforts to strengthen financial consumer protection, resolution preparedness, organisational capabilities and stakeholder engagement, while laying the foundation for its next strategic phase under the Corporate Plan 2026 – 2028, themed ‘From Readiness to Resilience’.
In 2025, PIDM advanced resolution readiness through closer industry and interagency collaboration. Key initiatives included the third National Resolution Symposium; PIDM’s flagship event for deposit insurers and financial safety net players; the second Muzakarah on Islamic bank resolution, and further enhancements to its Resolvability Assessment Framework and preparedness frameworks.
PIDM also expanded public engagement to deepen understanding of its protection systems and role as a resolution authority. Public awareness rose to 79% (2024: 75%), while advocacy increased to 67% (2024: 56%). As a founding member of the Financial Education Network, PIDM supported the development and launch of the second National Strategy for Financial Literacy 2026 – 2030. It also introduced new communication materials and refreshed its corporate website.
Regionally and internationally, PIDM continued to advance deposit insurance and insurance guarantee scheme practices through international leadership and strategic partnerships. In 2025, PIDM entered into a new Memorandum of Understanding with the Deposit Protection Agency of Thailand and strengthened its bilateral engagement with the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation. PIDM also contributed to international policy development through role as Chair of the International Association of Deposit Insurers’ Working Group on Resolution and through itscontinued participation in the International Forum of Insurance Guarantee Schemes’ Sub-committee on Resolution Planning.
The report also outlines progress in organisational, technological and governance capabilities. Initiatives included the rollout of a Competency Framework and Data Literacy Programme to build a data-driven, future-ready workforce; continued cybersecurity and incident response preparedness; and the launch of the Organisational Anti-Corruption Plan 2025 – 2029. PIDM also supported communities through Santuni MADANI, financial literacy programmes and its undergraduate scholarship programme, benefiting 20 students from underprivileged households.
To commemorate its 20th anniversary, the report features ‘Our 20-Year Journey’, reflecting on PIDM’s evolution and contributions to protecting depositors and takaful and insurance policy owners, while promoting confidence and financial system stability in Malaysia.
Looking ahead, the Corporate Plan 2026 – 2028 centres on four priorities: Resolution Resilience; Strategic Partnerships and External Relations Resilience; Digital Resilience; and Human Capital Resilience. These priorities will guide PIDM in delivering its mandate amid an increasingly dynamic operating environment.
